Lukavice spreads along the river Kněžná and the Lukavice Brook (at 360 to 420 m). It once belonged to the Manor of Kolowrat and Kvasiny. Iron ore was mined here in the second half of the 18th and in the 19th centuries and the village flourished. Currently, the village has a predominantly agricultural character, there is small business and varied cultural and social life. The most important cultural monument is a late-Baroque church, from 1783 – 84, and the vicarage, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Please note, also, the first World War memorial. In the vicinity, there is a landscape area, Marl Quarry, which is the site of thermophilic growth and shrubs, and a meadow with protected species of plants. Should you see a black Tom-cat when you visit Lukavice or stroll in its neighbourhood, it might be the fairytale patron of the village. Do not attempt to catch it. He is the pet of the local cats and is rather wild. www.lukavice.cz
