A village arose (at 500 – 650 m) in 1310, next to the Rychmburk castle, dating from the 14th century. The castle was built on a long and narrow headland (now west of the church), and it was protected by a moat chiselled out of the rock. It was destroyed in 1458, just as the former church. There is a precious example of folk architecture preserved to this day - a timbered church with shingles dedicated to St. Peter and Paul, possibly built on the site of an earlier church in 1691 – 92. There are other religious buildings in Bělá – the Church of St. John of Nepomuk – and in Uhřínov – the Church of St. Lawrence. The chapels in Hláska and Prorubky have been re-sanctified. The village of Liberk actually comprises Hláska, Bělá, Uhřínov, Rampuše and Prorubky as well. The area is mostly used for recreation, which is evident from the weekend houses and cottages, as well as from the lively social life there. The village of Liberk has a gloomy patron. A skeleton with his head tucked under his arm. But he will not do you any harm. What one should fear more are living, greedy and immoral people. Perhaps this skeleton will chase them away and then the Mountains will be a friendly and cosy place to be in. And at least here, around Liberk people try to make it so.liberk
